Why get a diagnostic test?

You may need a negative test result in order to travel, visit certain facilities, or return to work. Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, most free testing locations do not have capacity to test you if you are symptom-free. That’s why we offer these molecular saliva tests (no nasal swab, woohoo!).

FAQs

How does the test work?

One of our medical assistants will ask you to spit into a small test tube. The tube will then be sent to a lab where it will be tested for a viral genetic code that indicates the presence of COVID-19 in your body.

Do I need to do anything beforehand?

Please call ahead before visiting our clinic for a COVID-19 test. Do not eat, drink, chew, or smoke 30 minutes prior to collection.

When do I get my results?

These diagnostic tests are processed within 1 business day. Most patients get their results within 24 hours or faster.

What will my test results mean?

Our providers will call and discuss your results with you. A positive diagnostic test means you are currently infected with COVID-19 and should take appropriate measures to self-quarantine. A negative result means you did not have the virus at time of testing.

How accurate are these tests?

No diagnostic test is perfect, but these come pretty dang close! The saliva kit we use has 97.5% sensitivity (detecting patients with COVID-19) and 100% specificity (detecting patients without COVID-19). If you believe you have been exposed to COVID-19, please wait 96 hours before testing in order to get accurate results.

Why isn’t the test free?

We encourage anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms to receive free testing at a local testing site. As a small business, our lab tests are not covered at the federal level. We provide the test at-cost (plus a small lab fee) in order to get you the lowest price possible!

Does my insurance cover the test?

That depends on your insurer! Our staff can help you get more information from your insurance provider. We also provide a form to send in for reimbursement.

What other COVID tests do you provide?

We also conduct antibody tests, which determine if you've already been exposed to COVID-19. A positive antibody test means you likely have some short-term protection against reinfection. You can learn more here.
