It’s okay to not be okay right now. Many of us are currently struggling with feelings of depression, anger, disappointment, and anxiety. Here are several resources you can turn to for support during this time: 

Support Lines 

If you need fast support, you can receive confidential, 24/7 support from these support line options (to head to the support line’s website, click its name here in the list):

  • Crisis Text Line: For any type of mental health crisis. Text HOME to 741741.

  • Suicide Prevention Lifeline: For suicidal thoughts (or concern about a loved one experiencing suicidal thoughts). Call 1-800-273-8255. 

  • National Domestic Violence Hotline: For those experiencing abuse. Call 800-799-7233.  

  • Substance Abuse Helpline: For addiction support and referrals to local help. Call 1-800-622-4357.  

  • Youthline: For teenagers. Call 877-968-8491 or text Teen2Teen to 839863. Teen peer support available from 4-10 PM PST and adults all other times. 

  • Trevor Lifeline: For LGBTQ+ teens in need of crisis and non-crisis support. Call 888-488-7386 or text START to 678678. 

Free Resources 

Take advantage of free tools designed to help you meditate, relax, and find calm during this pandemic: 

  • 30-Day Guided Yoga Program: Available on YouTube, these yoga classes are perfect for beginners and can help quell anxiety by guiding your mindfulness and breathing practice. 

  • Guided Meditations: These free mediations from Calm are designed to help you stabilize during these uncertain, anxious times. 

  • Meditation, Sleep, Movement Exercises: The Headspace app is offering a free collection of exercises to help everyone find space and calm during the pandemic. 

  • Support Groups: Talkspace created therapist-led Facebook support groups where you can find mental health guidance, tips, and resources. 

  • Stress Management Sessions: Modern Health providers lead free, daily skill-building sessions to help you learn how to better manage stress. 

  • Information Hub: PsychHub teamed up with national healthcare organizations to source practical, helpful information about COVID-19.  

Telehealth Therapy Sessions 

If you need extra support during this time, you can actually work with a therapist from home!

If you have health insurance: 

Many health insurance companies, including SelectHealth, are temporarily including telehealth therapy sessions as a benefit that they will help pay for. Some insurance providers are even waiving telehealth co-pays altogether.

Head to your insurance company’s website and use their doctor search tool to find in-network telemedicine providers. Your insurance may also cover virtual visits on telehealth platforms like Teladoc or Doctor on Demand

Have a local mental health provider you already prefer or who was recommended to you? You can also reach out directly to professionals and ask if they are conducting virtual sessions during the pandemic. 

If you don’t have health insurance: 

Many telehealth services like Teladoc or Doctor on Demand offer visits at fixed rates. We like that the Talkspace and BetterHelp apps offer almost unlimited access to a counselor for about $200-$300/month; these rates are actually comparable to average insurance co-pays.
